MAPPING 2000 YEARS' OF PRODUCTION
Red dots indicate dedicated industry facilities over the city of Barcelona's 2000-yr history.
This mapping exercise reveals the progression of European cities from fully self-sufficient origins to a full export of production to the countryside and the global scaled economy.
Economies of scale provide economic
optimization but come at a hefty cost
to environment, culture, and resiliency.

2. BARCELONA'S URBAN PALIMPSEST (0 CE - Present)
PROJECT REFERNCE: THE BLENDING FACTORY
EXPLORING BCN'S URBANITY (1840-PRESENT)
Barcelona's urban palimpsest explored in three different contexts:
URBAN FABRIC - documenting the age of building footprints across BCN's 2000-yr history;
TRANSPORTATION - documenting innovations in mass transit, from the first railroads to a dense streetcar network, later excavated and replaced by subways and freeways.
RECREATION - documenting the age of spaces reserved for public recreation, from World's Fair-era monumental parks to new public spaces recovered from the center of city blocks.

REVEALING THE INVISIBILITIES OF A PARISIAN INTERNMENT CAMP
Re-membering the CIV (Centre d’Identification de Vincennes) is a research project led by Beth Weinstein that aims to make this detention and internment camp’s location, its architecture and the events that occurred there knowable to a broad public. The research explores how AR technologies can create a dynamic experience of a virtual CIV, as well as previously silenced voices, in the site where this internment camp once stood. This project also speculates on how a site-specific event can expand engagement with the phantom CIV into an embodied, collective, performative, and spatial act of re-membering.

1ST PLACE WINNER - NATIONAL AIAS IN STUDIO: MODEL COMPETITION
These two animations were part of a 2020 award-winning national competition entry to creatively feature studio models with an emphasis on modular construction. All units across the mixed-use development consist of 5 modules (3 middle segments capped by 2 end segments), and each module is enclosed by standardized wall panels, allowing for individual components of each unit to be removed, replaced, and upgraded with ease.
